In addition to communication, collaboration is also an important aspect of our classroom. Throughout the school day, Mrs. Parker's scholars are constantly collaborating with each other in order to stretch their brains! Collaboration does not just happen inside of the classroom either, it also extends into the home! In Mrs. Parker's class, we believe that collaborating with student's home environment motivates them to be the best scholars that they can be. One way we have done this is through our student interest survey. At the beginning of the year, you should have received a form that asked about your students interests at home! Using this information, we are able to incorporate student interests into our lessons, which helps to increase student engagement! Throughout the year, there will also be assignments and projects that will require your student to bring in items from home and share them with the class. This helps students to connect concepts we are learning in class to the real world, and to their own home!

Most importantly, we hope to communicate and collaborate with the families of our students in order to better understand what each student needs to be successful in first grade! Families, please do not hesitate to reach out to either Mrs. Parker or Miss Poore with any questions or concerns that you may have. We want to collaborate with you in order to ensure that your student has the best year possible!

In this class we believe that communication is very important, both inside and outside of the classroom. For families, there are a variety of ways that we work to keep communication open between the school and home. Our class uses the application Classroom Dojo, which allows you to keep track of your student throughout the school day. There is also a messaging service through the app which allows teachers and parents to communicate. Throughout the school day, Mrs. Parker is able to send and receive dojo messages. This is probably the quickest way to get in contact with her throughout the day. Both Mrs. Parker and Miss Poore can also be reached via email, which will be included at the bottom of this post. While Mrs. Parker does schedule conferences throughout the year, families are always more than welcome to request an additional  conference. In order to do so, please contact Mrs. Parker via email or through class dojo.
